Dans une Interview accordée au Seattle Post -Intelligencer, Robbie Bach, Chief Xbox Officer de Microsoft, confirme une nouvelle fois que Microsoft ne prévoit pas de lancer une console portable sur le marché bien que ce secteur des portables suscite beaucoup d'attention cette année avec notamment la DS de Nintendo et la PSP de Sony, Microsoft préfère se concentrer sur sa Xbox et faire des investissements plus judicieux. Robbie Bach pense que Sony s'est mis en difficulté en positionnant sa PSP comme un appareil permettant de lire des musiques et des films en plus d'être un console de jeux, puisque Sony devra en effet jouer sur plusieurs fronts au niveau de la concurrence, avec notamment Apple (iPod), avec Microsoft (Portable Media Center) et Nintendo (DS).

Robbie Bach (Microsoft's chief Xbox officer) : 'For us, and my group, we're focused on Xbox. Deciding to go into another dedicated gaming device would be a big, tough row to hoe. We're more interested in making the smart investment we made in Xbox pay off in a big way over the next three or four years.'

Robbie Bach (Microsoft's chief Xbox officer) : 'I think the challenge for them is they have to compete with Apple (and its iPod), they have to compete with Microsoft and all of our Portable Media Center partners, and they have to compete with Nintendo. And they have to produce a product that is world-class in all three of those capabilities. I think that's very, very tough.'
