Much in the same way that fighters in the mold of Street Fighter II conquered consoles for years in the nineteen-nineties, so has the first-person shooter over the last ten plus years. Shooters are simple in design, but can be as complex as any puzzle game for players to actually master. Ask anyone who’s dumped hours into just setting up a LAN in the dorms or at a LAN party before the actual gameplay begins, and they tell you how the FPS genre has impacted their lives and ate up hours.
