Originally, Sony had expected to ship 11 million PS3s from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008. Had Sony kept its goal, the company would have reached 14.57 million PS3s shipped worldwide by March 31, 2008 since 3.57 million PS3s were shipped between launch and March 31, 2007. However, Sony recently lowered its forecast shipment goal to 9.5 million shipped from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008. In other words, Sony now hopes to have shipped a total of 13.07 million PS3s by the end of March 2008. With only six weeks left in the period, and PS3 sell through at about 10.2 million, it is likely that Sony will narrowly miss its revised shipment goal for the fiscal year.
