Nobuo Uematsu (Square-Enix) : 'I'm in the midst of composing now, but we haven't reached the stage where the music is actually implemented in the game yet. On the concert tour this spring I'd like to play a new song from either Final Fantasy XII or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children live.'
Nobuo Uematsu (Square-Enix) : 'There have always been challenges associated with the development of Final Fantasy VII. For the original game, we changed production from Super Famicom to PlayStation in the middle of development. Things changed fundamentally and instead of basic songs, sound effects and more complex arrangements were possible. For Advent Children, there's a challenge to compose music for every scene and balance that against the beautiful onscreen images and dialogue.'
Nobuo Uematsu (Square-Enix) : 'I thought it was a great idea, especially because of the lack of innovation in the games industry. The idea of merging the companies behind Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy was exciting. Both companies were very competitive and I thought that spirit would be even stronger together. I traveled to Osaka and Akihabara last summer to discuss business ideas with people from the Enix side of the company, but we've only recently begun collaborating on game development.'
