"Writing Persuasive Essays about Books The importance of books can’t be denied in a person’s life. If you want to stimulate your brain and imagination, read a book. When did you last read a book? Have you reduced your reading culture to your friend’s status update on social media? Reading books has many benefits. They’ve been known to encourage and motivate us when we are feeling down. Books give hope to continue pushing and never to give up and console a depressed person. Some people relieve stress by working out, listening to music or by reading a book. A well-written, interesting article can make you forget about what you are going through for a short time. Keep this in mind when reading a book: you have to remember characters, the plot, history, their backgrounds, and even sub-plots. It also helps you with your memory, exercising your brain muscles. But what about reading bad books? But what about reading bad books? There are way too many books in the world for us to get stuck reading a bad book. Bad books make you miserable and sad and create bad habits in us. They can make us stop reading altogether. Bad books create unhealthy habits in us. Avoid reading a bad book because it will waste your time and energy. Without books, we would never have known about our past ancestors, civilizations, and cultures. Have you ever thought how life would be if history hadn’t been documented? Books play an important role in our lives. The vast amount of books that exist can’t be underestimated. There are books on science, history, culture, civilization, fashion, technology, art, architecture, travel, etc. Some are for reading while others are for learning purposes. As with everything, when writing essays about books, there is a formula or guidelines you need to follow. Guidelines to follow when writing essays about books There’s no specific rule that says you should have a plan before writing an essay. Some people come up with ideas first then get a structure along the way as they are writing making the necessary edits. Others divide the essay into specific topics which they use to help them write. Whatever method you use, you must be clear and concise on what you are writing about. However, if you are new to essays, we have put together a general outline you can follow to write your book essay. Introduction: All good pieces of academic articles should have an introduction, with a general description of the topic and the problem which will be addressed later in the article. That’s where you draw the reader’s attention. Summarize your argument: This part should come out very clearly. Don’t let your readers wonder or draw conclusions for themselves on the point you are trying to make. Talk about the author: Give a summary about the author of the book, who they are, what they are all about, what qualifications and expertise they have on the subject you are reviewing. Summarize the content: As you are reading a book, you should take notes which will help you create a summary once you are done reading. Being able to summarize a book in not an easy thing especially if you are not reading it attentively. Strength: Pick one area where the book does well. An area that best describes the book. Weaknesses: Where could the book have done better? Where could it be improved? Did the author omit something or leave some important detail that needed to be added in the book for it to make more sense? Conclusion: Here, you summarize your opinion on the book identifying an audience that would enjoy reading the book or anyone that would benefit from reading the book. Make it as satisfying as possible so that someone can want to read the book. Good writing comes from communicating clearly. Use short sentences and avoid using passive voice. Bring fresh, interesting ideas to your writing. Don’t pick ideas from someone else and make it look like it is your work."
