Pétition pour la HD
Voici l’article d’ign :
June 14, 2005 - Earlier this week, Nintendo made it official: the company's next-generation console, codenamed Revolution, will not support high-definition resolutions, according to company executives.
Nintendo says that games on Revolution will still look great. It cites overall high costs, both for developers and consumers, as the major factor in not supporting high-definition games.
Naturally, despite Nintendo's best intentions, the omission of HD support on Revolution has thousands of videogame fans up in arms.
If you happen to be one of them, now's your chance to make a difference. E-mail Nintendo's customer service department today and tell it why you are upset about the company's recent decision. Will lack of HD cause you to seriously reconsider purchasing Revolution? Tell Nintendo why.
With more than a year to go before the console's release, there's still time to have an impact, but only if enough people fall in line with the cause.
E-mail Nintendo Now
I'm personally extremely excited for high-definition. I think for this generation it's the biggest step. Visuals will improve in general, but at the same time what we're finally getting is a definitive 16x9 picture, which makes a huge difference, says F5's Eggebrecht. High-definition makes a huge difference, even gameplay wise. You can suddenly see a lot of things, especially in the distance, that you couldn't before. You can see a lot more detail that is lost in the old resolution. It's the most important step for this transition of consoles.
Sales of HD televisions are already on the rise and analog standard definition sets on the decline. While only 12.5 percent of U.S. households own an HD set now, the Consumer Electronics Association forecasts that the number is going to steadily increase. In 2006, by the time PlayStation 3 and Revolution launch, nearly 30 percent of all homes in America will have an HDTV. That's already a significant audience, but it gets bigger. In 2007, almost 50 percent of all U.S. households will own an HDTV and in 2008, a whopping 68.1 percent, according to the CEA.
IGN's monthly readership of 25 million game, movie and tech enthusiasts seems to back these claims up. Nearly 30 percent of 5,000 readers polled on IGN.com this week say they already own a high-definition television. Almost 10 percent more say they will buy one this year. An additional 15 percent are committed to picking one up in the next two years. Another 11 percent say they'll get one in the next three. More than 20 percent say they're waiting a while and only 16 percent say they don't need one.
