I'm honestly very, very excited about this. While I must claim that I'm a huge fan of the "originals" back in the years when physical arcades ruled supreme: Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, and Virtua Fighter...the games in general have changed so much that they're not as fun for me anymore (and thus haven't played much). For instance, I loved MK 1 AND 2, as well as VF 1 & 2 (VF1 & 2 possibly being my all-time favs), yet after installments 2 of MK and VF, the game played so differently that they were almost unfamiliar at that point; current version have lost almost all familiarity for me. SF, however, seems to have always retained its familiarity. Many would criticize this as being "non-evolutionary", but everyone loves the original SF2 for a good reason (it's also no fluke that they're popular on Xbox Live, etc...and getting an HD remix). I think the new graphics looks absolutely great. Other SF 3D versions, due to hardware limitations, were so striped down of details that they were essentially triangles and blobs. I still liked them, but I know most didn't...and losing that "character" (ie, Zangief's scars, etc) were missed. The new models, they are even more detailed. Muscle striations, exaggerated muscularity, etc look awesome; you can feel the strength they're toting! I'm usually opposed to 3D makeovers, but I think this one looks absolutely amazing. Also, is it just me, or does it look like the crowd actually "looks" at the fighters & follow the fights -- instead of just doing pre-rendered animation loops? I'm just going by stills here....
